Fire burns hundreds of acres west of Havre

p>Emergency crews tackled a wildfire that scorched hundreds of acres between west of Havre on Tuesday afternoon and into the evening.

According to the Havre Daily News, the fire was located south of Fresno Road between Havre and Kremlin.

Several firefighting agencies responded, including the Bear Paw Volunteer Department.

The BPVFD said they were able to respond with five brush trucks, one tender truck, and 14 volunteers.

Also at the scene was Gildford volunteer Fire, Box Elder volunteer Fire, Wild Horse volunteer Fire, Havre fire, and several landowners and friends, according to a BPVFD post on Facebook.

They said that firefighters were able to get the fire contained fairly quickly, with a few hours of mop-up.

The fire burned an estimated 500 acres of wheat and pasture land, and was caused by a combine fire, according to BPVFD.

There were no reported injuries or damaged buildings/structures.
