Over the years, Black Friday shopping has evolved – from waiting in lines early Friday to waiting in lines on Thanksgiving Day.
Some stores have protested shopping during the holiday by staying closed on Thanksgiving, but the Target store in Great Falls opened on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Natissa Menmile, who was first in line for Black Friday deals at Target, had been waiting at Target since 2 p.m. for a deal on a 55-inch television along with deals on other Christmas gifts.
But she and her family aren’t missing out on a holiday meal: “Actually, we decided to do our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, so we’re going to cook on Saturday. Came down this morning, left at eight.”
In addition to Black Friday, “Small Business Saturday” will take place on November 24th — a time to focus on locally-owned smaller stores.
