(GREAT FALLS) Great Falls Public Schools completed spring cleaning a bit early this year.
They have compiled a number of items from all the schools in the district. From file cabinets, book cases, furniture, lockers and kitchen supplies, the items will be sold at a reasonable price.
“One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. We’re hoping that people can come and really find some treasure,” GFPS Superintendent Tammy Lacey said.
The sale will be at Longfellow Elementary School Friday from 1-5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Any item you purchase must be paid for with cash and taken on the spot.
There will also be a silent auction for larger items such as a dough machine or a drill press.
The silent auction closes at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Longfellow Elementary School will be demolished in the spring. Students who are enrolled there are currently going to Roosevelt Elementary School until the new school is ready. The new Longfellow Elementary is expected to be complete by August 2020.
The money raised during the obsolete equipment sale will be put into a building fund where the district can purchase new furniture and equipment.
“We hope that people will come and take a look and be able to repurpose and reuse some of these items that have had lots of love in the classrooms, but it’s definitely obsolete and time to have a different purpose,” Lacey said.
