The community came out to a cold and snowy ‘Topping Out’ ceremony on Wednesday at Great Falls High School.

Sletten Construction organized the ceremony, which is an old Scandinavian tradition that celebrates the final beam being placed on top of a new building.

Great Falls High School Principal Heather Hoyer said, “It’s been amazing to see all of the work that Sletten has done and the flexibility of my students and to see where we’re going to be in the future, it’s starting to take shape.”

Students and alumni were encouraged to sign their names on the beam to be a part of history.

Hoyer added, “In the basement of Great Falls High, we have signatures that go back all the way to when this building was built. You have them sign as a symbol of the future, but it really ties into our past history and tradition.”

The next steps of construction includes starting to work on enclosing the building, putting up the wall panels, and continuing the work on the inside.

This construction project will connect the historic main campus to the field house and south campus classroom complexes.
