GREAT FALLS — At Tilleraas Landscape & Nursery on Saturday, dog and their people celebrated with a Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular Party, a festive display of appreciation for service dogs and the fall season.

The event featured doggy dress-up, a costume contest, games, and even a dog kissing booth.

This celebration helps financially support the Big Sky chapter of Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), a nonprofit organization devoted to training service dogs that can be gifted to disabled owners.

CCI volunteer and Big Sky chapter president Kim Monroe explained how the festivities raise awareness about service dogs. “We want to get out here and show people our puppies and our dogs and educate them and talk about our organization,” Monroe said.

Monroe is a puppy raiser for CCI and is devoted to helping the disabled have access to dogs that can make their lives easier. “We raise them. We pay for all their food, their veterinary care. And we love them, we give them great loving homes, socialize them. And we do that all free of charge.”

CCI relies on donations to ensure they can provide these dogs to the disabled at no cost.
