Emergency crews respond to crash on west side of Great Falls

GREAT FALLS — Emergency crews are at the scene of a vehicle crash on the west side of Great Falls.

The crash was reported to the Montana Highway Patrol at 7:41 pm on Monday.

It happened along Vaughn Road between Stuckey Road and I-15; authorities are blocking Northwest Bypass at Stuckey Road/Watson Coulee Road.

Great Falls Fire Rescue posted on Facebook that it is a "significant vehicle accident."

At this point, the MHP will only confirm that at least one person has been injured.

A witness told KRTV that a Mercy Flight helicopter was at the scene.

There is no word yet on how many vehicles are involved, nor the cause of the crash.

(UPDATE, 9:55 pm) Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision in the northbound lane. One person was injured; the other driver was conscious and appeared to be OK, according to a Montana Highway Patrol trooper. The southbound lane on the road is still closed until the vehicles are moved out of the way.
