GREAT FALLS — Emergency crews responded to a scrap pile fire on the east side of Great Falls on Monday evening.

We began receiving reports of the fire at about 7:20 p.m. on Monday.

The fire was burning at Steel Etc at 1408 52nd Street North, which is along the north side of River Drive, across the street from Big Sky Animal Clinic.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Black Eagle Volunteer Fire Department said that Steel Etc does a lot of controlled burns with an active burn permit, but Monday's fire started and they tried to put it out, but it got bigger then they could handle, so they called 911.

There is no word yet on the possible cause of the fire, or the dollar value of any damage.

Black Eagle Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire, along with mutual aid from Sand Coulee Fire, Malmstrom AFB, Gore Hill Fire, and Vaughn Fire.
