GREAT FALLS — New City Church in Great Falls is taking steps in a new direction, as they bid farewell to long-time pastor Bob Johnson.

Johnson has been with the church for more than 38 years, and says that he’s not actually leaving, but instead going to be focused on helping other congregations too.

Johnson explained, "I will be traveling more to other churches and helping them. That’s what I will be doing now”

He also plans to spend more time with his 12 grandchildren.

Bob has always felt that Great Falls is home to him: “I wasn’t born here or raised here, but from the time we drove into the city, God did something in our hearts toward it, and I travel quite a bit, but when I come home this is a wonderful place. I love the people here and I love everything about this city."

With Bob stepping down the church needed to find a new pastor.

Nate Swanson has been part of the church since 1991 and took over as the new pastor recently.

“Everything worth doing comes with challenge,” said Swanson. “There is just all kinds of excitement for the future”

You can check out New City Church services on Saturdays at 6pm and Sundays at 9 am and 11am.
