After a year of hard work and completing hundreds of courses, Great Falls College MSU has received a national cyber defense designation.

The National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security designated GFC MSU a 'National Center of Academic Excellence,' an accreditation that runs through the 2024 school year.

Computer Technology Department Chair Chris Mee said students in the program will receive a Center of Academic Excellence and Cyber Defense designation on their transcripts, an honorary distinction that could give students an advantage when applying for cybersecurity jobs.

“The job market is just getting more and more wide, opened up, for these types of positions,” Mee said.

According to Cybersecurity Ventures, 3.5 million cybersecurity jobs are projected to open up in just two years. That makes cybersecurity programs like the one at Great Falls College MSU important for students hoping to secure a job in the field.

Mee said that with so many businesses utilizing online mediums, cybersecurity has become an essential aspect of maintaining businesses.

By completing the nationally designated program, students will be more prepared for jobs where they’ll need to safeguard cybersecurity, according to Mee.

Students interested in the program can call Great Falls College MSU's admission office at (406) 268-3700 or visit the website.
