GREAT FALLS — The Cascade County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who died in a crash in Great Falls on Wednesday at Roderick Gerard McCrea.

McCrea was 51 years old, and from Great Falls.

It happened just before noon on Wednesday near the intersection of 10th Avenue South and 15th Street. There were three vehicles involved, each with one driver and no passengers.

According to the Great Falls Police Department, McCrea was eastbound and his vehicle was straddling the median; when his vehicle came off the median, it hit a westbound vehicle, which then crashed into a third westbound vehicle.

Of the other two drivers, one sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, and the other was not injured.

All westbound lanes of 10th Avenue South were closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and conduct the investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled in Billings to determine the cause and manner of his death; authorities do not yet know if the crash was due to a medical condition.

The Great Falls Police Department and the Montana Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the crash.
