GREAT FALLS — Looking for some family-friendly festivities in Great Falls? Here are three events:

  • If you’re looking for a COVID-friendly holiday activity, head to the parking lot of the former Westgate Mall along 3rd Street NW in Great Falls. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has set up a large screen playing holiday and Christ-themed videos. From noon on Friday, 18, until noon on Monday, December 21, the videos will play non-stop. All you have to do is pull up in your car and tune to the radio station on the screen to listen to the videos. "We felt that, this year being a difficult year, that the community needed some Christmas cheer and some hope. The organizers of this event felt it would be a great gift to the community,” said church communications director Mike Banks.
  • Candy Cane Lane is back for another season of bringing holiday cheer to the Great Falls community. The free event will be on Friday, December 18, and Saturday, December 19, from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. at Jaycee Park (23rd Avenue NW and 4th Street). The website for the event states: "Candy Cane Lane was created in 2014 by a husband and wife who wanted to see Christmas Spirit in their community. One of the big traditions they did as a family was drive the town with hot cocoa and look at the lights. They wanted to make this easier and the first year they handed out 150 cups of hot cocoa next to a fire pit while promoting the well light festive area of Skyline. 2017 event gave out 1,300 cups of cocoa next to a fire pit with Santa & Mrs. Clause! The event is meant to bring people out and together. It is a FREE event and open to anyone." All donations to Candy Cane Lane will go toward the Great Falls Early Childhood Association.
  • "Lights On The High Plains" is back for 2020 to delight and spread some holiday cheer. Owner/designer Brian McVay operates the light show from 5:30-9:30pm Sundays through- Thursdays, and from 5:30-10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. McVay urges people to be courteous of his neighbors. It's located at 9 High Plains Road, a little bit southwest of the Great Falls airport (scroll down for map). McVay says "Come out, enjoy the show, stay as long as you like!" The light show will be on display through the second week of January. For more information, click here to visit the Facebook page.
