GREAT FALLS — Small businesses like Let’s Play Games & Toys and Montana Mosaic in Great Falls say they think it’s important to shop locally.

“It’s always important to shop small business because that money stays in the community,” said Lee Wiegand, owner of Let’s Play Games & Toys.

The location, formerly known as Downtown Dice & Games, has expanded to add toys to the mix after Amazing Toys owner Dave Campbell retired last year and closed his store.

Wiegand says they appreciate the support from the community, but also find the day a bit ironic.

“Small Business Saturday is a weird day because it’s actually put on by American Express, which is kind of weird, so it’s kind of ironic kind of. I don’t know if that’s irony or not.”

American Express started Small Business Saturday in 2010 to encourage people to shop locally and support community retailers during the holiday season.

Even as a small business owner, Wiegand still has goals for the future: “I would hope I could retire doing this, it would be pretty awesome."

Montana Mosaic is another small business that aims to help local artists get their work out in the community. It features all kinds of gifts such as jams, jellies, metal work, wood work, knives, and an art gallery.

Owner Carolyn Brown says they are happy to be a part of sharing these gifts from Montana: “It’s just kind of nice to showcase the different talent that Montana has to offer."

And you can shop at Montana Mosaic at 525 Central Avenue in downtown Great Falls to support local artists.

Let’s Play Games & Toys is located at 514 Central Avenue; click here to visit their website , or click here for their Facebook page .
