Airmen at Malmstrom Air Force Base celebrated their accomplishments over the last year with a special presentation on Tuesday.

The 341st Missile Wing was presented with the Omaha Trophy for their outstanding performance in 2017.

Vice Admiral David Kriete, U.S. Strategic Command Deputy Commander, said he was proud of the men and women and their commitment to service.

The Omaha Trophy was created by the Strategic Command Consultation (SCC) Committee in 1971. At the time, a single trophy was presented annually as a token of appreciation to the command’s best wing.

There are five categories for the Omaha Trophy and Malmstrom received the one for the most outstanding missile wing.

Kriete says that these airmen have been able to provide peace through strength for more than five decades.

He is not surprised Malmstrom is the top ICBM wing in both U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command and also in U.S. Strategic Command.

“You are the very best in everything that you did last year. Number one ICBM Wing, number one Air Force Nuclear Assetry, number one ICBM cops squadron, number one ICBM munitions squadron, number one in maintenance, number one Security Forces group, and you were the very first ICBM unit to win the Security of Defense Maintenance Effectiveness Award,” Kriete said.

Kriete also talked about the success of a recent test missile launch and the success that Malmstrom had during the Global Strike Challenge.
