On Thursday July 11th, people from all walks of life had the opportunity to learn about Montana agriculture firsthand.

Attendees partook in the first annual Future of Ag Tour, which spanned from Great Falls to the heart of Montana’s Golden Triangle.

The day-long event was made possible through a collaboration between the Great Falls Area Chamber, Star Radio, Northern Pulse Growers Association and Cargill.

Agricultural leaders on site discussed everything from canola to pulse crops along with wheat and barley.

Future of Ag Tour participants also learned the importance of staying on the leading edge of agriculture and technology.

“We used to just go out and farm, you really never paid attention to it,” said Treasurer of the Montana Grain Growers Association Mitch Konen. “It’s turning into a big science project out here anymore.”

The tour wrapped up with a presentation on hemp and it’s impact on Montana.

Those with the Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce hope to continue providing an inside look into Montana agriculture; they’re planning on making the Future of Ag Tour an annual event.
