1 man dead, two people injured in crash near Ronan

An 18-year-old Polson man is dead and two are injured after a one-vehicle crash near Ronan on Saturday night.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that a 2006 Ford Mustang was driving Southbound on Secondary 354, a backroad near mile marker 6, when the driver failed to negotiate a left hand curve and drove off the right side of the road. The vehicle then contacted a rock embankment, overturned and came to rest on its tires facing west.

There were three occupants of the vehicle and the driver is yet to be determined. Identities have not yet been released.

The man who died was wearing his seatbelt.

A 19-year-old Ronan man was injured and taken to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.

An 18-year-old St. Ignatius man was also injured and taken to St. Luke Community Healthcare Hospital in Ronan. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.

According to MHP, alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the incident.

Road conditions Saturday night were noted as bare and dry.

The incident is still being investigated.
