BILLINGS — One person died and another was injured in a two-car collision near Lame Deer in Rosebud County, according to MHP Trooper Richard Drake.

The crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday along US Highway 212 near mile marker 46.

According to Drake, a Chevy Suburban was traveling west on US 212 on a downhill grade when it crossed over into the eastbound lane.

A Chevy pickup truck traveling east and up the grade attempted to pull over when the two vehicles collided.

The female driver of the pickup died at the scene; her name has not yet been released.

The male driver of the Suburban was taken to Indian Health Services in Lame Deer before being transferred to St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. The nature and extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.

The MHP is not yet sure if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, and is continuing to investigate.
