The Belt Rural Volunteer Fire Department was involved in a crash last Saturday when its water tender, which was occupied by one firefighter, slid off an embankment and rolled.
On November 24, BRVFD stated they responded to several crashes including one involving a snow plow and a Malmstrom Air Force Base Humvee.
There were only minor injuries and no occupants of either vehicle were taken to the hospital, according to BRVFD.
While clearing the scene of one crash, BRVFD reported the parking brake was released on their water tender and the tender began to move forward. The vehicle then broke traction and slid from the top side of the road to the bottom.
BRVFD stated the tender could not be stopped and it slid off the embankment and rolled one time.
Only one firefighter was inside the tender and he suffered minor injuries, but was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
While on scene, another vehicle rollover occurred less than a half mile away. There were only minor injuries reported in that incident, according to BRVFD.
All of Saturday’s crashes have been or are being investigated by the Montana Highway Patrol.
