GREAT FALLS- Community members in north central Montana are looking for input about a National Heritage Area.

For the past five years, the Upper Missouri River Heritage Area has been working to be the first National Heritage Area designated in Montana.

The area would celebrate the history of Great Falls all the way up to Fort Benton.

The board has come up with a statement of significance, and that will be relived during next week’s meetings.

They will also relive the themes that coincide with the statement, and they will discuss the boundaries of the area.

Cascade County Commissioner Jane Weber said it takes an act of Congress for the National Heritage Area to be designated.

The meetings will be on January 30 in Black Eagle and January 31 in Fort Benton.
