A 3-month-old baby was found dead at a Sidney residence after police responded to the home for a possible domestic situation and welfare check Saturday.
According to the Sidney Herald , Police Chief Frank DiFonzo said officers gained entry into an apartment and found an agitated 30-year-old woman and an unresponsive 3-month-old infant.
The baby was transported to Sidney Health Center, but hospital staff were unable to revive her.
The 30-year-old woman was unable to answer questions and was also brought to Sidney Health Center before being flown to Billings. She is in intensive care, according to the Sidney Herald .
Drugs and alcohol are believed to have been involved in the situation, police said.
DiFonzo stated the incident is being investigated as a crime and details are limited.
“We’re not able to actually tell what happened at this time,” he said.
During the initial call to the apartment, the 30-year-old woman’s brother was also found. The 20-year-old man was in a different apartment and had suffered a knife wound.
He is believed to have been in the same apartment where the infant was found unresponsive, according to the Sidney Herald .
