HELENA – The Montana Highway Patrol reported that nearly 30 people died on Montana’s roads since the beginning of June.

That’s almost one death a day for the month, and the MHP said those statistics make it the deadliest June in the last decade.

Authorities are not sure what caused the spike, but they noted the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the ‘100 Deadliest Days of Summer.’

July is historically the deadliest month on the road.

Troopers encouraged people to follow speed limits, buckle up, and to not drink and drive.
