ARLEE – The 121st Arlee Powwow celebration has been up and running since Wednesday, bringing with it all the fun and excitement that participants wait for all year long.
The University of Montana’s spectrUM Discovery Area, along with some partners, even brought in some science education for kids to learn — and more importantly, to have fun with.
“We are so excited to come and bring activities for them throughout the day,” powwow organizer Jessie Herbert-Meny told MTN News.
The activities keep kids involved in science while on summer break, helping drive home concepts they are already learning in school.
“We strive to add science to things that kids are doing in the summer so that it enhances what they are learning in school and keeps them excited to learn and curious about what’s going on with science,” Herbert-Meny said.
This marks the sixth year that the science learning tent has been at the celebration.
“I think all the activities that we have here kids really love […] kids get to learn about laser cutters and 3D printers,” Herbert-Meny said.
The tent was back at the Arlee event Saturday and featured a new theme.
