3 people found dead near Polson; murder-suicide suspected

Lake County Sheriff Donald Bell has released the names of the three people who were found dead near Polson on Monday.

Matthew Alan Pruchnik, 49 years old, and his two sons who were age 7 and 5 years old were found in their home deceased.

Deputies are still investigating but report that it appear Pruchnik intentionally killed his children and himself by carbon monoxide poisoning in their home on Lakeview Drive, possibly on Friday, March 13th.

Deputies had arrested Matthew on charges related to domestic violence back in August of 2017.

No other information has been released at this point; we will update you if we learn more.



(1st REPORT, 12:55 pm) Authorities are investigating the deaths of three people whose bodies were found in a home near Polson.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says deputies were dispatched to a residence outside of Polson at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday for a report of suspicious activity.

Officers found the bodies of one man and two young children inside the single-family home.

Sheriff Bell says that the initial investigation indicates the deaths were a case of murder-suicide.

The bodies have been taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula so that autopsies can be performed.

Further details will be provided later to allow time for next of kin notification, according to Sheriff Bell.
