BILLINGS — A driver crashed a car into a house on Billings West End on Monday afternoon, resulting in the passenger of the car being taken to a hospital.

Billings Police Sgt. Bret Becker said the driver of a red Chevy Cavalier, an 18-year-old man, was driving east on St. Johns Avenue when he said he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake upon approaching a stop sign at 12th Street West.

The vehicle drove over a fence hit the front of the house at 1133 St. Johns Avenue at 2:41 p.m. The two occupants inside the home were not injured, but items on shelves inside were knocked to the ground, Becker said.

The passenger, a female around the same age as the driver, was taken to a hospital as a precaution, Becker said.

Billings police suspect the incident might be a DUI. Officers found evidence of aerosol spray in the car, which could have been inhaled as an intoxicant, according to Becker. There is no word yet on what charges might be filed.
