Driver dies when car hits horse in Big Horn County

BILLINGS — A 67-year-old man died on Thursday when the car he was driving hit a horse on Highway 212 in Big Horn County.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 10:52 p.m. at mile marker 1.5 in Big Horn County near Crow Agency.

Several horses ran onto the road, the patrol said, and the driver of a westbound Volkswagen Jetta was unable to avoid hitting one of the horses.

The man from Fishtail died at the scene.

The man's name has not yet been released.

The patrol did not provide information on the condition of the horse that was hit.
