BILLINGS — A Martinsdale man died after a crash Saturday on U.S. Highway 12 near White Sulphur Springs in Meagher County.

Montana Highway Patrol stated that the 65-year-old man was driving a 2001 Chevy Silverado eastbound on U.S. 12 near mile marker 59.5, when he lost control, hit a guardrail, went airborne and slipped down a steep embankment.

The man was pronounced dead on arrival.

MHP reported that the man was wearing a seatbelt and the roads were bare and dry; the MHP is still investigating to determine whether alcohol or speed were factors.

It was unclear what time the crash occurred.

The man's name has not yet been released.
