Pedestrian dies after being hit by a vehicle in Lake County

(UPDATE, 11:29 a.m. ) The MHP says the victim, identified at this point only as a 26-year old man from Ronana, was in the southbound lane of US Highway 93 in the Pablo area for unknown reasons.

A 56-year-old woman from Polson was driving along the right side of the southbound lane when she hit the victim with the front passenger corner and windshield of her car.

The victim was then taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Ronan where he died from his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, but taken to the hospital for further investigation.

Alcohol was listed as being suspected as playing a role in the incident and the MHP is continuing to investigate.



(1st REPORT, 9:49 a.m.) A pedestrian died early Sunday morning after being hit by a vehicle in Lake County.

The Montana Highway Patrol responded to the incident on southbound US Highway 93 at mile marker 51 just before 4:30 a.m.

A male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later confirmed deceased. The man's name has not yet been released.

The driver was also taken to the hospital; information about the driver's medical condition has not been released at this point.

The MHP is still investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors.
