Pedestrian dies after being hit by a vehicle in Missoula

MISSOULA — One person is dead following an early morning hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian in Missoula.

Missoula Police Department spokesman Sgt. Travis Welsh says the driver involved in the incident was apprehended within about 15 minutes.

Law enforcement officers responded to the scene in the 3000 block West Broadway at around 6:30 a.m.

The westbound lanes are currently blocked near the intersection with Commerce Street.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area. There is no word on how long the road is expected to be closed.

The name of the person who died has not yet been released; at this point, the Missoula Police Department can only tell us that it was a 63-year old man.

The name of the drive has not yet been released.
