1 man arrested after standoff with police in Billings

BILLINGS — There is a a large police presence at a standoff at a trailer park on Mullowney Lane near the intersection with Story Road.

Billings police, firefighters, and an AMR ambulance personnel were at the scene at 4:40 p.m.

Tear gas has been deployed in the area.



One man has been pulled from a building and taken into custody; his name has not yet been released.

The cause of the standoff - which lasted for several hours - has not been released; there is no word at this point whether anyone has been injured.

UPDATE: The man has been identified as Darren Whiteman, 36 years old. He was booked into the Yellowstone County Detention Facility on felony robbery charges, and bail was set at $250,000.
