MISSOULA — A Missoula hospital recently marked a rare occurrence – the birth of identical triplets.

The three babies were born at Community Medical Center in Missoula on September 19 to Kristy Pohlman and Shawn Ellinghouse of Seeley Lake.

CMC says that mom is in stable condition and the babies are being cared for in the Community Children’s NICU, and all three babies are in stable condition.

The babies were born on Palindrome Day -- 9.19.19, at approximately 7:22 p.m.

Statistics from the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention show just how rare it is to give birth to identical triplets in the United States.

CDC birth numbers from 2017 show that there were 3,675 incidents where triplets were born in the US – out of 3,855,500 total births.
