HELENA — Broadwater County Sheriff Wynn Meehan has identified three people who died in separate crashes over the weekend.

The first crash happened Friday evening on U.S. Highway 12, between East Helena and Winston. Montana Highway Patrol said a driver lost control of her car and crossed the center line, hitting an oncoming truck.

Meehan said that driver, 25-year-old Samara Yanny of Bozeman, and a passenger, 11-year-old Mykhia Cole of Bozeman, died in the crash. Another passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to a hospital in Utah. Meehan said all three were siblings.

On Sunday, three vehicles were involved in a crash in the Toston Bridge area on U.S. Highway 287. Meehan said one driver, 79-year-old John Patrick Fedro of Bozeman, died, but the cause of death is not yet clear.

Meehan said winter weather conditions played a role in both crashes.

He expressed condolences to the families of those killed, and he asked drivers to slow down, especially in bad weather.
