Six-year old girl died in a crash in Mineral County

MISSOULA — A 6 -year old girl died in a crash early Sunday in Mineral County.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the girl was a passenger in a semi-truck that crashed near St. Regis just after midnight on Sunday.

MHP reports that a 34-year-old woman from Hudson, Florida, was driving a 2017 Volvo semi-truck eastbound on Interstate 90 when she drifted off the left side of the road.

The semi-truck hit two delineator posts before the driver got back on to the road.

The truck then overturned and landed in the median, hitting several trees.

The 6-year-old girl, also from Hudson, was was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

A 10-year-old boy in the truck, also from Hudson, was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt.

A 1-year-old girl -- who was not restrained -- was injured and taken to the Mineral County Hospital; her current condition has not been disclosed.

MHP says speed, drugs, alcohol were not factors in this crash. The roads were dry and clear at the time of the crash.

The Montana Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
