GREAT FALLS — Ski slopes in north central Montana are, for the most part, pleased with the way the 2020-2021 ski season has gone.

Teton Pass Ski Area owner Charles Hlavac said the weather and COVID has led to not as many people coming out, but the slopes have still been busy at times.

Hlavac believes the season has been the most challenging ever for all ski areas across the state. “We aren't able to have the lodge open to full capacity, or I'm not willing to open it to full capacity, therefore it presents a lot of new things and a lot of added friction. Folks are still coming up. We've had some of our busiest days,” Hlavac said.

Showdown Montana near Monarch has also been busy.

"We're all out there on the busy weekends asking people where they're coming from because our parking lots are full. We're just so excited to have people up here. We're getting people from all over the state, we're getting people from out of state,” said Rickey Nash of Showdown.

Both ski areas expected their seasons to last for another month to month and a half.
