HELENA — City leaders are looking for residents to serve on a temporary steering committee that will help find a new advisory body to oversee the Helena Civic Center and support the arts.
Last week, the Helena City Commission voted to dissolve the Civic Center’s advisory board, but they announced they were looking to “identify or create” a new group to provide public input for the facility. The steering committee will help with that search.
The city is looking for people from a number of groups in the community:
· One member representing tourism
· Two members representing the visual and media arts
· One member representing venue management
· Two members representing the previous Civic Center board
· One member representing the Helena Citizens’ Council
· Two members representing the general community
Mayor Wilmot Collins will chair the steering committee. It will meet every one to three months, and its work will be completed no later than January 2021 – the deadline city leaders set for finding an advisory body for the Civic Center.
Leaders say the steering committee will also help advise about the Civic Center’s request for proposals. The city has invited letters of interest from private-sector organizations, about potential partnerships at the facility.

Letters should include your name, address, phone number and email, along with what category of member you would represent and your interest and background in relation to the Civic Center.
