(UPDATE, 5:14 p.m.) The suspect in Friday's fatal shooting has been identified as 53-year-old Rick Park of Ennis. The name of the victim has still not been released.

The Ennis Police Department announced in a joint statement with the Madison County Sheriff's Department on Saturday that Park is being held on charges of deliberate homicide and assault with a weapon.



(First report, 4:33 p.m.) A woman has died and a man is in custody after a shooting in Ennis on Friday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Ennis Police and the Madison County Sheriff's office, at approximately 2:01 p.m. the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received information regarding a gunshot within Ennis town limits.

The Ennis Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Forest Service Law Enforcement, with Ennis Ambulance, responded to the scene.

A woman died as a result of a gunshot wound. One male suspect is in custody and there is no threat to the community. Their identities have not been released.
