Great Falls Public Schools welcomed two newly-elected members to the Board of Trustees position Wednesday afternoon.

The new trustees, Kim Skornogoski and Teresa Schreiner, were sworn in at the District Office Building.

Skornogoski works as a Marketing Director at United Way of Cascade County and Schreiner works as a Workforce Consultant for the Montana Department of Labor.

Schreiner said she plans on having complete transparency with the community.

“My hope would be that if community members have concerns moving forward that they really communicate those issues not just online, not to Facebook pages or anything like that, but to the trustees directly," she said.

Teresa also said with the failure of the levy, they’re looking at over a million dollars and wrestling about where they’re going to go from here.

Skornogoski said what is most exciting about this election is that they are both moms to current and future students of the district.

“We can bring that perspective to the board that was missing until now. We can advocate not only on behalf of our kids, but of all kids,” she said.

The community is welcome to attend school board meetings. The next one will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the District Office Building.
