MISSOULA — A woman and an infant died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 in Lake County on Monday, March 9, 2026.

According to Montana Highway Patrol, the crash happened just north of Arlee at about 9:30 p.m.

MHP says the 28-year old woman from Arlee, who was driving with the baby girl in her car, crossed the double yellow line and collided with another vehicle that was heading in the opposite direction.

Both of them died at the scene. The woman was wearing a seatbelt; the infant was not properly restrained, according to the MHP.

The woman who died has been identified as Bryeanna Woken. A GoFundMe account states:

My son Blake Woken experienced an unimaginable tragedy. While he was working in California, his beloved wife and their one-month-old baby girl were involved in a fatal car accident at their home in Montana. The loss has left our entire family heartbroken and struggling to find a way forward.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 66-year old woman from Polson, was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening; the MHP says she was not wearing a seatbelt.

MHP believes alcohol was a factor in the crash, but does not indicate which driver that applied to.
