GREAT FALLS — A 38-year-old man from Columbia Falls died in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the crash happened shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Montana Highway 35 near Columbia Falls Stage Road.

The victim was driving south in a Chevy Equinox on Highway 35 near mile marker 46 when he crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a Dodge pickup truck headed north.

The victim died at the scene; he was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the MHP.

The 41-year old female driver of the pickup truck was wearing a seatbelt; the 46-year old male passenger was not, according to the MHP. They were taken to Logan Health in Kalispell for treatment of their injuries.

The MHP says that alcohol and/or drugs are believed to have played a role in the crash, and the road was wet at the time.

The names of those involved have not been released.
