MISSOULA — Sean Alan Shriner has been charged with shooting his wife and attempting to kill his 3-year-old son.
Shriner, 42 years old, is being held on $1 million bond for allegedly shooting his wife in the shoulder and pointing a gun at their son.
According to court documents, Shriner's wife called 911 on Friday saying she was shot at her home in the 1900 block of Blue Bird Drive when a gun misfired.
Shriner could be heard saying "the intruder is here, I'm trying to shoot him" in the 911 call, according to documents.
She was taken to a hospital and told officers Shriner had been drinking and that he has PTSD from military experience, according to the charging documents.
Documents say Shriner's wife contacted the Missoula County Sheriff's Office the following day. She told detectives Shriner was supposed to pick their son up, but instead went drinking at a local strip club. She said they fought, and Shriner said he "was going to kill" their son.
Shriner was holding two guns by the time he shot his wife, according to charging documents.
The woman also told detectives about a history of violence, saying this was not the first time he pointed a gun at her or her son, and that he told her to say there was an intruder at their home.
She said that she was afraid if she told the truth he would get out of jail and kill her.
Shriner is charged with attempted deliberate homicide, assault on a minor, assault with a weapon, and tampering with witnesses and informants. He is currently jailed in the Missoula County Detention Center; we have not yet obtained a booking photo.
