GREAT FALLS — The City of Great Falls is providing an opportunity to learn more about how the Electric City operates through a program called “City 101 Academy.”
Members of the Great Falls community can participate in the academy starting January 29th and going through June 17th.
Great Falls officials hope these classes will improve understanding of how municipal government works, raise awareness about issues or concerns in the community, increase citizen participation in City matters, and in general improve communication between community members and local leaders.
The Academy will be six months long, with classes held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6:45 to 9:00 pm.
Classes will include information on the following:
- An Overview of Local Government – To include information about the City Commission, City Manager, and Neighborhood Councils.
- Introductions into each City Department. For example; City Clerk, Human Resources, Municipal Court, Animal Shelter, IT, Communications, Finance, Legal, Planning and Community Development, Police, Fire, Park and Recreation, Public Works, Housing Authority, Mansfield Center, and Library.
- How to get involved with the community through volunteering within City Government and details about roles on the City Advisory Boards and Commissions.
Class size is limited so early registration is encouraged. Registration is open now and will close Friday January 3rd, 2020.
