GREAT FALLS — The American Red Cross is asking for blood donations, saying that they are in "critical need" after the holidays.

During the week of Christmas and New Year’s, about 500 fewer blood drives were hosted nationally by volunteer sponsor groups.

For Great Falls, the importance of blood drives is critical. “It saves lives and makes a difference, and there is no substitute for human blood," explained Scott Shanahan of the American Red Cross.

If you donate blood before January 19th, you are automatically entered for a chance to win tickets to the Super Bowl:

We’ve teamed up with the NFL to offer one lucky winner two tickets to Super Bowl LIV, entry to the official NFL Tailgate, tickets to Super Bowl Experience at the Miami Beach Convention Center, round-trip airfare to Miami, three-night hotel accommodations at The Alexander® - All Suite Oceanfront Resort (Jan. 31 to Feb. 3), plus a $500 gift card for expenses.

The American Red Cross office in Great Falls is located at 1300 28th Street South; for more information about where and when you can donate blood, call 800-272-6668, or click here to visit the website.
