GREAT FALLS — The Great Falls Public Library is getting an upgrade, and will be closed from September 12 until 1 p.m. on September 15 to join the Montana Shared Catalogue.
Being part of the catalogue allows the library to share the cost of catalogue service with libraries across the state.
That will save the library about $16,000 a year.
It will also allow the library to join a statewide service that will allow people to check out items from other libraries.
“If you see something at Missoula Public (Library) that you want, you’ll be able to put a hold on it and they’ll just ship it to us. It’s going to greatly expand the amount of material that we can offer to our patrons,” explained Library Director Susie McIntyre.
The library will be able to join the statewide service in six to 12 months.
