GREAT FALLS — NeighborWorks of Great Falls is hosting its annual Giving Tuesday fundraiser this week.

The fundraiser will run through the end of the day on Tuesday, and the goal is to raise $3,500 through their Facebook campaign.

They also hope to receive some amount of matching donations from Facebook, who are currently giving out several million dollars in matching donations to fundraisers across their website.

NeighborWorks Fundraising and Outreach Coordinator Chelsey Hutmacher says that while Facebook is the main way to give money, it’s not the only way.

“The only way to get a potential matching donation is to give through Facebook and through the fundraiser on that platform,” she said. “You can also go to our website and make a donation there at nwgf.org, or you can stop in the office. We’ll have cookies and coffee here tomorrow (Tuesday) and you can come drop off a donation here.”

The goal of the fundraiser is to provide a way for members of the community to give back to their neighbors and local businesses that they want to support.

A majority of the money will be put into programs that NeighborWorks runs for community members, such as their Homebuyer Assistance program.

“NeighborWorks is participating in Giving Tuesday, and we have for the past couple of years, which is exciting,” said Hutmacher. “We’ve had great success and so this is a way for people in our community to give back to families here in Great Falls, but also various neighborhoods here in Great Falls as well.”

The idea came about a few years ago when NeighborWorks decided that they wanted to provide Great Falls residents with a way to show their gratitude and donate money in the spirit of the holiday season, and coming off of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The organization also hopes to add a number of new classes and programs for people in the community.

“It would help out the programs that we already have, but also the programs that we see for the future and that vision,” Hutmacher said. “We’re excited about all of those things.”
