GREAT FALLS — A power outage is affecting some people in Great Falls this morning.

KRTV was notified of the outage at 8:31 a.m. when Valerie Brown posted on our Facebook page: "Loud boom a few minutes ago, and now our power is out, Anyone else hear it? Or power out?"

Several other people commented that they too heard the noise and were without power.

The area affected is near Chowen Springs Park.

The NorthWestern Energy website states that they are aware of the outage and are working to restore power, and indicate that up to 100 customers are currently affected.

NorthWestern Energy has not yet officially confirmed the cause of the outage, but Janetta Longie posted on the KRTV Facebook page: "Transformer just blew up about 10 15 minutes ago. 1700 block of 6th Ave South."

UPDATE: NorthWestern Energy reports that power has been restored as of 9:59 a.m.
