GREAT FALLS — Registration is now open for the first hunter education course of 2020 in Great Falls.
Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks requires everyone born after January 1, 1985, to complete a hunter education course before he/she is allowed to hunt.
The courses are free, and cover a variety of topics including gun safety and sportsmanship.
Registration can done at the FWP website, but anyone without access to a computer may register at the FWP Great Falls office on March 5 or 6 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Classes are 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., and will take place on the following days:
- March 9th
- March 11th
- March 12th
- March 16th
- March 18th
- March 19th
Students need to attend all six classes and the four-hour Saturday field day on March 21. The two sessions that Montana residents can choose for that are 8:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. or 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.
After registering, you must pick up a course manual and read the manual and answer the questions at the end of each chapter before class. Manuals can be picked up from any of the following locations:
- North 40 Outfitters (4800 10th Avenue South and 1000 3rd Street NW)
- Scheel’s in Holiday Village Mall
- Great Falls FWP Office at 4600 Giant Springs Rd
