GREAT FALLS — Since snow began falling Friday, heavy snow accumulation has taken a toll on city roads, posing a threat to both pedestrians and drivers.
Great Falls Police Department Shift Commander Sgt. Jeff Bragg recommends staying off the roads if at all possible.
He advises pedestrians to do the following:
- Wear bright clothing to increase visibility
- Stay out of the roadways
- Walk/jog on sidewalks
GFPD confirmed one person suffered minor injuries after being hit by a snow plow in a parking lot Saturday morning, the woman is expected to make a full recovery.
He also urges drivers to travel slowly and to double their following distance, as stopping can be difficult when the road is slick with snow.
Bragg added that while 4-wheel drive gets vehicles started faster, it makes it that much harder to come to a stop.
