GREAT FALLS — This month's first-ever featured Cat of the Month is Chilly- a female feline whose disposition is anything but cold.

Chilly is one of the organization's longest residents, as she was taken in last year during the chilly winter months.

When the mild-mannered feline arrived to the cat-lovers at Pet Paw-See last year, she was covered in bites from wild cats.

“It was really rough. The vet didn’t know whether or not we should continue. And she survived,” Pet Paw-See Co-founder Leslie Raynes said.

As a result, chilly contracted FIV, a feline form of HIV contracted through bites and the mating process.

While the diagnosis sometimes turns people away, Pet Paw-See’s Co-Founder Leslie Raynes said that cats like Chilly can still lead a normal life.

“Their life expectancy can be a normal cat life. It just depends on the autoimmune system of that animal.,” Raynes said.

Raynes adds that there are other cats like Chilly in need of adoption.

“We have a number of them that are just amazing animals. And they’re just waiting. We have 3 FIV’s and one FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus),” Raynes said.

If you're interested in adopting Chilly, you can visit her every Saturday this month, at Petsmart or check out her profile on the Pet Paw-See website.

If you’d like to adopt another pet, you can find out more about the adoption process here..
