GREAT FALLS — The Cascade County Commissioners hosted a community wide meeting Thursday, February 20th to discuss proposed updates to the Montana ExpoPark.

The proposal included a presentation with displays where those participating were able to discuss the proposed plan and ask questions.

The upgrades include new livestock facilities to improve connectivity within the park and a better layout for livestock on ExpoPark grounds.

This would require relocation of the current livestock building and replacement of aging horse stalls.

The biggest change includes construction of a new multi-use arena with seating capacity for 10,000.

The new arena as well as the changes to the livestock buildings would mean more than 90 new events that could be hosted at the ExpoPark, which is projected to bring in more than 9 million dollars of economic output.

This would also bring increased visitation to events at the grounds which is good news for Great Falls.

Cascade County Commissioner Jane Weber feels this is the next step for growth in Great Falls: “They showed last night that they would bring in many more events, that we would have the capability of bringing in many more events. They also would generate many people coming to our community and having overnight stays in our community using our restaurants purchasing things in our private business in our community”.

The entire plan would cost $130 million dollars, which the meeting also discussed both public and private funding options for the project.

We expect more information from Montana ExpoPark on the future of the grounds in the next week.
