GREAT FALLS — Friday afternoon, a group of seniors from Grandview at Benefis got into the spirit of love for their Valentine’s Day gathering.

Residents listened to musical numbers, enjoyed refreshments and spent time with friends and loved ones.

A select few got to celebrate with their lifelong love, like longtime couple, Robert and Jean McCafferty.

After nearly 70 years of marriage, the McCafferty's are spending their first valentine's day in an assisted living facility.

Robert McCafferty said Valentine’s Day festivities have changed during his lifetime.

“When I was a young boy, we’d pick flowers on the way to school and give it to the girls at school. We don’t do that anymore.

Now the lovers offer each other valentines in the form of genuine affection.

Jean McCafferty said she’s enjoyed every year spent with the man she loves.

“There are ups and downs but I wouldn't give up one second of our life together,” Jean McCafferty said.

After receiving a lifetime of valentines, Jean McCafferty said Robert is still her favorite one.
