Winter weather continues to impact north-central Montana

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for several portions of the state including north-central Montana.

The Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. for Cascade, Lewis and Clark, Glacier, Hill, Chouteau, Pondera, Blaine, Teton, and Fergus counties.

A Wind Chill Advisory for the areas is in effect until 12 p.m. Tuesday.

Snow is possible through Central Montana again Monday afternoon. Wind Chill values are expected to stay in the -20’s and -30’s into Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Road conditions around Great Falls show snow and ice. Reduced visibility and blowing and drifting have been reported along the Rocky Mountain Front between Choteau and Helena.

Sunday’s storm caused many school closures in the region and affected several bus routes and business hours.

Schools in Harlem, Hays-Lodgepole, Rocky Boy, Browning, Valier, Heart Butte, and Box Elder were canceled for February 4.

On Monday, some establishments are sending employees home early due to conditions. MTN will continue to update this article if more school or business closures are announced.

-Blackfeet Tribal Business Council Vice Chairman Illiff “Scott” Kipp Sr. sent out a memorandum releasing all tribal employees at 1 p.m.

-Opheim Public School is closed Tuesday, February 5 and Wednesday, February 6 due to the cold temperatures. School will have a two-hour late start on Thursday, February 7.
