20-year-old man dies after shooting in Sidney

A 20-year-old man died after a Tuesday night shooting at a Sidney convenience store.

The Sidney Herald reported the Sidney Police Department responded to the Loaf-N-Jug store along Central Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a shooting that occurred in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive 20-year-old man who appeared to be the victim of a gunshot wound. Richland County EMS assessed the victim and determined he was deceased.

At 11:35 p.m., Kyle Lee Severson, 19, from Sidney entered the lobby of the Richland County Law and Justice Center and identified himself as the shooter, according to the Sidney Herald.

Severson was arrested without incident and has been charged with deliberate homicide. His bail was set at $2 million.

Severson will appear in Sidney City Court at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The Sidney Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

The name of the victim has not yet been released. We will update you with any new information.
